With weather that's more favorable to biking than boarding, Heavenly Mountain Resort is postponing plans to open this weekend.
The ski area straddling the California-Nevada line is now looking at Thanksgiving weekend.
Heavenly's chief operating officer, Blaise Carrig, says colder weather is expected next week, which will help with the resort's snow-making operations.
Snow also is a possibility.
The resort has been able to make some snow this past week, but weather changes have not allowed it to lay down enough depth for skiing and riding.
Boreal opened one run on Monday and Kirkwood tentatively plans to open November 24th -- one day after Heavenly.
