Transportation Funding Approved For Incline Village Programs

Washoe County Commissioners approved the continuation of funding for two transportation programs at their November 13th Board meeting.

The first funding approval of $10,000 will be provided by Commissioner Jim Galloway’s District 1’s Special Funding Account and will pay for the continuation of shuttle service between the Reno-Tahoe International Airport and Tahoe City, Kings Beach, Truckee and Incline Village/Crystal Bay.

The first year of shuttle operation managed by the Tahoe Transportation District from November 2006 to November 2007 was very successful.

Of the three routes operated during this period, the route to and from Incline Village/Crystal Bay consistently ranked either the highest or second highest in ridership in the majority of months.

The second program approved by the Board via an interlocal agreement is the renewal of a $12,500 grant funded program that provides transportation to Incline Village seniors for groceries, necessary services and social events.

Round-trip rides are provided for door-to-door service and assistance for seniors age 60 or over, or for people with disabilities, regardless of age.

The funding is provided by a grant from the Regional Transportation Commission.
