Mining Accident Kills Two

Two miners are dead, after an early morning accident near the Nevada-Utah border on Sunday, Dec. 5.

The accident happened in Ruth, Nevada, 300 miles east of Reno, at the Robinson Pit. Firefighters say the miners were killed while repairing a huge shovel. They say some safety measures failed and killed them.

The victims, whose names have not been released, worked for Washington Group International, based in Boise, Idaho. They were contracted to work the gold and copper mine along U.S. 50, west of Ely.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
