Murdered Mother's Family Asks for The Public's Help

The person who took the life of a local mother remains at large. Now the family of Brandy Gallego is making a public appeal for help tracking down her killer.

"We're still kinda numb it's kinds surreal in a sense where we're still not believing that it actually has happened," Brandy's sister, Nancy Riggs, said.

The family of Brandy Gallego says they miss the 29-year-old dearly. They say Brandy played basketball at Reed High, graduating in 1996, and had a lot friends. She was a single mother. Her 7-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son are now being cared for by their grandmother and other relatives.

" We're all sharing what we can as far as responsibility and just loving them," Brandy's father, Larry Gallego, said.

The family says the last time anyone saw Brandy was Friday the 2nd; Wednesday her body was found inside a van in a Pine Street parking lot. Brandy's family is hoping someone can tell them what happened to her.

"This is one reason why we wanna reach out (to) the community reach out to all families in Reno," Larry said.

There's a $2,500 reward offered for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of Gallego's killer. Her family says they have no idea who would hurt her.

"We're looking for closure, I mean closure period, we just wanna know what happened, how it happened, and why it happened," Brandy's brother, Mike Gallego, said.
