Free Girls Basketball Tournament Benefits Food Bank of Northern Nevada dec. 1-2

Bully’s Sports Bar & Grill hosts a free basketball tournament for 7th- and 8th-grade girls Dec. 1 – 2 in conjunction with Jam On It Basketball Academy.

The first-ever Bully’s Winter Hoops Holiday Classic hosted by Jam On It is open to middle school aged girls in both Nevada and California and all entry fees are waived in lieu of donations to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.

The 16-team tournament takes place at Hug High School in Reno and all players and coaches are treated to a complimentary kick-off party Friday, Nov. 30 at the Bully’s Meadowood Mall location from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. where coaches’ packets may also be picked up.

“This tournament gives players a chance to play out-of-league teams in a fun and positive atmosphere,” said Matt Williams of Jam On It Basketball Academy.

“It’s a great opportunity for them to test their skills and get experience playing against teams they’d normally never get the chance to play against; plus it benefits a great cause.”

The Bully’s Winter Hoops Holiday Classic is divided into two divisions, Level I – Elite Teams and Level II – Non-Elite Teams and a minimum of three games per team are played.

The winning team takes home the Winter Hoops Holiday cup that is passed from school to school each year.

The winning team’s name is engraved onto the cup and 2nd and 3rd place teams receive plaques.

All team players must be enrolled in the same school and all participants receive a free T-shirt and 2007-2008 Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) membership card.

All team coaches receive a free $50 Bully’s gift card as well.
