Another early winter storm packing high winds and heavy snowfall in the mountains is making its way into the Sierra Nevada. A winter storm warning remains in effect all day Tuesday and into tomorrow morning for the greater Lake Tahoe area and much of the northern Sierra.
The National Weather Service in Reno says snow levels this
morning will be around six-thousand feet and drop to just under
five-thousand feet by tomorrow morning.
Total snow accumulation by tomorrow morning is expected to reach
about a foot at Tahoe's lake level, with two to four feet at the
highest elevations. The storm will bring wind gusts near 40 miles
per hour by noon, with gusts in excess of 85 miles per hour over
the mountain tops in wind prone areas. The cold Pacific low pressure system will bring moderate to heavy rain and gusty winds to the region's valleys as well.
