Teresa Heinz Kerry was at the Neil Road Recreation Center this afternoon pitching her husbands proposals for improving health care and shoring up Social Security.
Heinz-Kerry talked for 40-minutes, and then with follow-up questions she talked for nearly two hours. The first lady hopeful gave a detailed description of how the Kerry-Edwards health care plan would expand an existing insurance system for federal employees to private citizens - if they want it. She also told several hundred listeners how the plan would expand federal support to state-administered health insurance for children.
Heinz Kerry criticized the Bush administration for not supporting Canadian prescription drug imports and allowing Medicare to negotiate bulk purchasing from drug companies. She drew laughs talking about a treatment for arthritis she had heard about: eating gin-soaked raisins.
