Traffic on both sides of Interstate 80 through Sparks was at a standstill much of today because of two accidents, one of them fatal.
Two people were killed in this accident on westbound I-80 near Pyramid Way. State troopers say this Suburban rear-ended a livestock truck that was stopping for traffic.
The Suburban was then rear ended by another big rig and literally crushed. Troopers say the victims are a man and a woman. Their names won't be released until their family is notified.
The second accident happened on *eastbound* I-80 near Sparks Boulevard. The driver of a Toyota truck pulling a travel trailer lost control. The trailer jacknifed and rolled. The two people in the truck were not injured. The inside travel lane was shut down while the accident was cleaned up. Both accidents are still under investigation.
