Director of Human Resources Carol Stewart and Recruiter Migle Valunte were recognized for actively recruiting people with disabilities.
In the last 12 months, the Peppermill has hired more than 30 individuals with disabilities.
To assure that a new employee’s transition is smooth, department supervisors must undergo disability training.
The Symon Awards are presented by the Business Leadership Network.
The BLN is a non-profit coalition dedicated to improving opportunities for businesses and people with disabilities.
The primary mission is to enable employers to hire more people with disabilities.
The BLN says one in five Americans has a disability and 15 million of them are unemployed or underemployed.
