Supreme Court Justice Forum

The race for Nevada Supreme Court justice took center stage today.
The League of Women Voters sponsored a public forum at the University of Nevada's Judicial college.
There are six candidates vying for three open seats.
The forum had a series of 12 questions...which came from the public.
There was a moderator for the debate.
Candidates talked about issues, ranging from the Supreme Court's decision last legislative session to overturn a constitutional whether there's a need for an appelate court in Nevada.
Ron Parraguirre is running against John Mason for seat E.
Parraguirre talked about his record...saying he has a 90-percent approval rating as a judge.
Mason stressed his independent status, saying he would not be influenced by outside sources.
In the race for seat A, James Hardesty is running against Diane Steel.
Both are district court judges.
Hardesty remarked how he's sat on more cases than his opponent...while Steel said if elected, she would bring more attention to family interests.
And finally for Seat F, there's incumbent justice Michael Douglas running against Joel Hansen.
Hansen has been an attorney for the past 26 years, and says he will always defend the constitution...while Douglas say there's a reason Governor Guinn appointed him to the position after judge Myron Leavitt passed away.
He wants to continue to earn the public's trust.
