Reno To Hold Walk To Raise Poverty Awarness

Church World Service will host its 16th annual Reno/Sparks Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty (CROP) Hunger Walk as part of an ongoing effort to promote awareness and provide relief and development assistance in more than 80 countries, including the U.S.

The Reno/Sparks CROP Walk is one of more than 2,000 walks hosted by communities in the United States on behalf of the cause.

Local recipient organizations involved in this event include Family Promise of Reno/Sparks, The Ridge House, and the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.

The collection of CROP Hunger Walkers will encourage friends, family, and co-workers to donate money for their participation in the three mile walk.

Church World Service will receive 75 percent of the funds raised while 25 percent will go to the local organizations involved.

On: October 21, 2007 at 2 p.m. registration will be at 1:30pm.

The CROP Hunger Walk hopes to raise hunger and poverty awareness in the Reno community as well bring attention to international poverty circumstances.
