NHP is identifying the victim of a deadly rollover accident that happened on eastbound I-80 at mile marker 36 near Derby Dam Saturday morning.

Trooper Matt Kaplan says the man killed in the accident was 23-year-old Boyd Jackson of Wadsworth. Jackson was the driver of a black 2002 Chevy SUV that veered off the roadway around 6:30 am. The SUV overcorrected, crossed over both lanes of traffic, then rolled over.

Kaplan says Jackson wasn’t wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the SUV. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 21-year-old man and a 22-year old man, both of Wadsworth, were also in the SUV when it crashed. The 21-year-old wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the SUV. The other man wore a seatbelt and was not ejected.

Both men were taken to Renown Medical Center by Care Flight where they were treated for injuries. One man was released, and the other is reportedly in good condition.

Officers say alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The accident is still being investigated, and if you witnessed it, police would like to hear from you. You can call the DPS Communication Center at (775) 687-0400, about case #NHP-1010020177.
