Early Taste of Winter

Summer seemed to vanish in an instant over the weekend... as cold air and clouds infiltrated Northern Nevada.
The Sierra saw it's first accumulations of snow overnight... making for a messy morning commute.
For several hours this morning... a heavy wet snow fell in the Truckee area. The National Weather Service recieving reports of as much as six inches in the higher elevations. Trees dusted and covered white... made for a beautiful sight. Area roads coated with a slick slush... at times made for trecherous travel.
But for Marilyn and Bob Trounson... a welcome change from the heat down south.
"We came up from So Cal, said Southern California resident Bob Trounson. " It was hot down there when we left. It's wonderful up here." "You like this" "Oh yeah! It's Great!"
Not enough to ride on yet... but this mornings snow provided a thin blanket at Boreal Resort. Just enough to make die hard skiers salivate at the upcoming season.
For others it was just a day at the beach, albeit snow covered. Jet skis sat idle, boats still on the ball. In hopes that at least one more weekend of sun and warmth awaits them. Not everyone's ready to give up on summer just yet.
