Halloween Shopping Heating Up

We're barely into October and Halloween fever is already sweeping through the Truckee Meadows.

Hundreds of shoppers are already on the prowl and they're plucking some of the best costumes off of the shelves.

The Spirit Halloween store on Kietzke Lane is flooded with customers less than two weeks after opening its doors. Sales representatives say the costume chaos is officially under way.

"It's pretty crazy," says sales clerk Rhiannon Horn. "It just started getting busy and we expect it to stay that way throughout the rest of the season."

This year's hottest items include costumes from the movies "300" and "Transformers."

And even if you don't plan on dressing up...there's always the option of covering your house with tasteful and taste-less decorations.

"I'm looking for anything scary," says Deedra Cornelius from Fernley. "Anything we can scare the bejeebies out of our neighbors with."
