The end of summer usually means the end of high gas prices. But according to AAA, those prices peaked back in May.
In fact, the highest average our state has seen, over the last year, was in May, when the average price was $2.96 a gallon. Today, we are sitting at an average of $2.89.
It’s a little higher for drivers in Reno, where we are paying an average of $3.01. However, drivers we spoke to say they are glad to see the prices go down.
"I thought it would be more for Labor Day,” Ralph Kile of Reno said. “And it's not, so I'm happy."
"It has been pretty expensive and towards the end,” another drive said, “t did slowly and progressively get cheaper."
If you still think gas prices are way too high, be thankful you aren’t a driver in Alaska. The average gas price there is well over $3.50 a gallon.
