RENO, Nev. (AP) - A Reno youth activist has proclaimed his
innocence after his arrest on two counts of trafficking
methamphetamine.
In a jailhouse interview with the Reno Gazette-Journal,
39-year-old Roberto Nerey said a man he recently befriended set him
up and that he's a victim of government entrapment.
Nerey, who was booked Wednesday into the Washoe County Jail,
claimed he never possessed any meth or ever took any drug money.
Investigators allege he sold more than two ounces during two
separate controlled buys conducted as part of a task force
investigation.
Nerey is executive director of Guiding A New Generation, a
nonprofit organization that says it gives youth alternatives to
gang activity.
