The body of a retired California Highway Patrol sergeant who had been missing at Stampede Reservoir since he went fishing September 22nd has been recovered at the lake.
The Sierra County Sheriff's office says fishermen reported finding the body of 66-year-old Peter Mueller of Stockton Saturday morning near Davies Creek inlet. That's the area where Mueller's boat was the day he disappeared.
An autopsy will determine the cause of death, but investigators say there's no sign of foul play.
Mueller, who had a summer home near Truckee, went fishing the morning of September 22nd. When he didn't return his wife contacted
a neighbor, who is a C-H-P sergeant.
The sergeant found the boat near the eastern shore with a five-pound trout in a catch net, but there was no sign of Mueller.
