LAS VEGAS (AP) - Authorities in Nye County today (Sunday) took into custody Darrin Tuck, a man they suspect of holding and showing off a tape depicting the rape of a three-year-old girl.
The 26-year-old had arranged to surrender after evading arrest
Nye County Sheriff Tony DeMeo says Tuck was on the run but his
options ran out, saying media coverage of the case made him, quote,
"too hot to handle."
DeMeo says prosecutors are set to charge Tuck with possession of
child pornography and possibly promoting child pornography tomorrow
Tuck had been on probation for desertion and failure to pay
child support, but his probation was revoked and authorities were
unable to arrest him Friday night.
Tuck has told authorities he found the tape in the desert, but
authorities said he possessed it for as long as five months before
turning it in.
Tuck's lawyer, Harry Kuehn (KEEN), says Tuck turned in the tape
in a reasonable time and says the sheriff's department is
exaggerating its evidence and jeopardizing his client's chance of a

Arthur Stiles, who is suspected of sexually abusing the girl.
Now 7, she was found safe in Las Vegas with her mother after
deputies distributed her image to the media.
Stiles also is wanted on an unrelated state warrant issued last
year charging lewdness with a minor under 14 years of age and on a
federal fugitive warrant.
