Prelim Set For Douglas Deputy Charged With Domestic Battery

An Oct. 5 preliminary hearing has been set for a former Douglas County sheriff's deputy accused of felony burglary and misdemeanor stalking and domestic battery.

Thirty-seven year old Jason Cypher was arrested Sept. 14 at Ironwood Drive and Highway 395 in Minden after a witness reported
seeing him striking his wife.

A criminal complaint alleged he pulled her hair and punched her numerous times.

The stalking charge states that between July 2006 and September
2007, he "terrorized, frightened and intimidated her" and would check her whereabouts.

Cypher is being held in the Carson City Jail on $25,000 bail.

He resigned Tuesday from the Douglas County sheriff's office, where
his wife also works.
