Former Calif. Governor to Endorse Rudy Giuliani

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani is expected to pick up a plum endorsement this week from 1 of California's leading Republicans, former Governor Pete Wilson.

According to several people with knowledge of the endorsement, the former New York mayor is planning to announce Wilson's support at a news conference tomorrow in Santa Monica.

Wilson will become Giuliani's most recognized supporter in the state. He has deep connections in California politics, having served as San Diego mayor, a member of the Legislature, a U.S. senator and two-term governor. He's also close with Republican Governor Schwarzenegger, who hired some of Wilson's former staffers.

Giuliani's campaign declined comment.
