RENO, NV - A quiet neighborhood in west Reno is the scene of a double murder.
Police say two people who live at 2101 Coleman Drive were killed Saturday morning. It all started around 6:00 a.m. Reno police responded to a report of a physical disturbance at the home. When they arrived, they found one person dead. Two people were taken to a hospital with injuries, and one of them died there.
Police won't say what kind of injuries they suffered or what kind of weapon was used. However, they do have a suspect behind bars.
37-year old Eyward Pereyra is charged with two counts of Open Murder with use of a Deadly Weapon and Attempted murder. He also faces a charge of Elderly Enhancement.
Neighbors tell KOLO 8 News Now that the suspect also lived at the home. They say he's the son of the two people who were killed. According to a close family friend, the victim who's hospitalized is the brother of the suspect.
"Everybody's just in shock. They're in awe. They're just the nicest people," says Randy Keeble, who grew up in the neighborhood. Keeble says, at one point, he even lived with the family. He admits, the news hasn't quite settled in yet.
Several people who live in the area say Eyward Pereyra suffered from mental problems. But they never thought he would turn violent.
