Posted: 6:25 PM - On Halloween, a storm system will approach the west coast. Clouds and wind will increase during the day, ahead of a sharp cold front. Rain and snow will develop in the afternoon in the Sierra, with snow levels quickly falling as the front pushes into Nevada Friday night. Travelers should expect winter driving conditions over the passes Friday afternoon though Saturday morning. For valley floors, Friday evening rain and wind, along with much cooler temperatures are in the forecast for trick-or-treaters, with a chilly, unsettled Saturday to welcome November. Don't forget to turn the clocks back one hour when you go to bed Saturday night. Daylight Saving time ends at 2 AM Sunday. -Jeff

In Reno, prescription pain medication was given to an 11-year-old trick-or-treater. In both cases, parents who were paying close attention caught the danger before anyone was hurt.
