RENO, Nev. Friday, Oct. 21, 2011 – Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center has recently implemented an innovative patient monitoring solution, AirStrip OB™, which allows obstetricians to keep a closer eye on their labor and delivery patients.

The new technology was designed to improve communications amongst caregivers and contribute to safer patient outcomes. AirStrip OB™ delivers vital patient waveform data – including fetal heart rates and maternal contraction patterns - in virtual real-time directly from a hospital’s labor and delivery unit to a physicians’ smart phone. Additional patient data is also accessible, including nursing notes, vital signs and order results.

“It is important to keep our labor and delivery patients safe and closely monitor their progress, which is why the AirStrip technology is the perfect enhancement to our current practices,” said Susan Daw, RN, MSN, administrative director of maternal services at Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

“Our clinical staff has already begun to use the technology and we have seen significant improvements in our communications and response time to patients.”

AirStrip OB works with the iPhone™, Android, BlackBerry® and a variety of Windows Mobile® devices. AirStrip OB is cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and is compliant with federal patient privacy regulations.
