Sarah Johns: “You want me to fly it off?”
Sarah: “Yeah, like this, hold on… and then do that”

Six year old Sarah’s smile draws you in as soon as you meet her. We spent a morning playing at her foster family’s home, a comfortable spot for this girl who enjoys swimming, gymnastics, watching movies and believe it or not… homework.

Social Worker Rocio Lopez: "What letter is that?"
Sarah: "J."
Rocio: " What about that one?"
Sarah: "I."
Rocio: "And that one?"
Sarah: "Q."
Rocio: "You are just so smart."

Sarah knows her ABCs and can count. She is currently in developmental kindergarten because she was just diagnosed with ADHD.

Rocio: “We didn’t realize that when you ask her open ended questions, she wasn’t able to answer because she wasn’t able to focus enough.”

Sarah Johns: "Can you tell me what grade you’re in?"
Sarah: "Kindergarten."

Sarah Johns: "Is there a specific animal that you like?"
Sarah: "Ponies."

Sarah has made a lot of progress with the services she’s getting, and needs a family who will help continue those programs.

Rocio: "We need somebody who’s going to be very patient. Very patient."

But more than anything, Sarah’s new family will have to be affectionate.

Rocio: "She really does crave it. She needs somebody who will sit next to her, hold her hand, hug her."
