When businesswoman Adrienne Snow became a mom, she, like so many others, faced the question of whether to use cloth or disposable diapers. After researching and weighing out the cost and environmental impacts of disposable diapers, she decided the right choice for her was cloth. Her next challenge came when she found they weren’t readily available in Northern Nevada. Snow and her mother teamed up to solve that problem.

They started making All-In-One cloth diapers called “Little Smudgeez”. The diapers have an absorbent bamboo velour interior and a water resistant exterior. You can buy them online and at local stores like EcoReno. Little Smudgeez range in price from $13.00 to $32.00 each.

While the initial investment may seem expensive, studies show cloth diapers can save you up to $1,000 per child. In addition, some experts suggest the cloth diapers decrease the length of time spent potty training. That’s because unlike disposable diapers that lock moisture away inside a gel core, children wearing cloth diapers know when they are wet.

Snow says she feels there is a misconception among younger parents that using cloth diapers is difficult. She says with the right tools and the right teacher, most people will find them as easy to use as disposables.
