Music filled Idelwild Park on Sunday afternoon, as people from all over the Truckee Meadows came out to celebrate the 38th anniversary of Earth Day.

Some were Earth Day regulars, while others like Loni Phariss are trying it out for the first time.

"We're just interested in learning about things for the environment," says Phariss. "I've never gone to one of these functions before. So, it's very interesting for me to see everything and support everyone and the shops."

Vendors set up dozens of shops all over the park preaching a different message about how to protect the environment.

David Von Seggern came to spread the Sierra Club's message about using resources other than coal to harness energy.

"Nevada has a lot of renewable energy," says Von Seggern. "And the coal plants don't make sense economically either."

Earth Day is mostly about preserving the world's environment, but local vendors say there are plenty of things people here can do to keep Nevada green."

One of those vendors is "evada Gown," hich consists of several farmers who are encouraging Nevadans to buy local, fresh, and natural products; that are healthier for you and your environment.

"I can say my product starts from seed to growing in the ground to being picked and used that way," says one vendor.

Perhaps the most popular vendor at the event was Keith Spradling, who's encouraging the Truckee Meadows to go green, in style; with his assortment of electric cars.

"It's a growing cause," says Spradling. "It is an environmentally friendly type event. So we want people to see what they have available out here to enjoy and improve their eco-consciousness"

With plenty of options in Northern Nevada, ncluding some more stylish than others; the Truckee Meadows appears to have a very bright and green future.
