Summer is up for incoming freshmen students at UNR. Dominic Cavilia is one of roughly 1800 freshmen students moving to campus today. The Carson City native has been lugging boxes all morning in the heat. He’s anxious but says he’s looking forward to college, “It's hasn't really settled in, it's a little surreal."
Dominc’s father Jim went to UNR about 25 years ago. He says, "I'm excited, and nervous for him but it's time." Domnic’s younger brother Johnny, who also hopes to go to the university someday, is excited about getting a room all to himself after his brother moves out.
Others like KJ Johnson, who plans to someday be a lawyer, is nervous. She’s from Sacramento and doesn’t know many people just yet, “I have one friend and she's my roommate."
A couple hundred upperclassmen will move in tomorrow, but by the end of the day every one of these freshmen will officially be members of the silver and blue.
