BROMONT, Quebec (AP) - Photos on Facebook have cost a Canadian woman her long-term sick leave benefits.

Nathalie Blanchard has been on leave from her job at IBM in Bromont, Quebec, for the last year.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reports she was diagnosed with major depression and was receiving monthly sick-leave benefits.

But, when a Manulife insurance agent discovered pictures of Blanchard having a good time the payments dried up.

Blanchard says she was told by Manulife the photos of her at a Chippendales bar show, at her birthday party and on vacation are evidence she's no longer depressed.

Blanchard tells the CBC that on her doctor's advice, she had been trying to have fun.

She's fighting to get her benefits reinstated and says her lawyer is exploring what the next step should be.

Insurance companies are the worst of the worst! I know from personal expericense. They will do anything to get out of paying. They have doctors and nurses on their pay that will lie about a persons condition. I wish this person all the best of luck fighting this. Charles, trubl have either of you ever delt with depression in any way? I think not, if you had you would not take this attitude toward someone with it!!

Insurance companies have no scruples. They obviously don't understand depression. They should be happy this woman was having a good time. I hope your good times continue. Good luck in all you do.
