The flood of stars expected to parade down the green carpet at the Latin Grammys has been washed out by a real thunderstorm in Las Vegas.

The fashion parade never quite got started as starlets in sparkling skin-tight gowns scampered indoors to the Mandalay Bay Convention Center on Thursday afternoon.

The festivities were moved into the pressroom to avoid real fashion disasters. But the excited fans in the stands kept screaming under umbrellas.

The carpet, colored green to represent Heineken as its sponsor, got soggy, but the 14th annual awards show would go on inside.

The awards show is being broadcast on Univision in the United States. The ceremony hosted by Mexican singer-actress Lucero will include 48 awards in 19 categories.
