LAS VEGAS (AP) - A Las Vegas minor league hockey team that's searching for a new home says it won't pursue a plan to move to a casino roof.
Las Vegas Wranglers President Billy Johnson told the Las Vegas Sun that a rink on the top of the Plaza Hotel in downtown wouldn't be done in time for the season, which begins in November.
Johnson says the team has also been working with another potential venue as a backup, but didn't say where or when the deal might be finalized.
The team was left scrambling for a new arena in December after Boyd Gaming announced it wouldn't renew the team's lease at the Orleans Arena.
The Plaza proposed building an ice rink inside a $4 million fabric shell structure on its pool deck.
