LOS ANGELES – Starting in 2013, you will be seeing “Jimmy Kimmel Live” right after KOLO 8 News Now at 11.
ABC made the announcement Tuesday. Kimmel’s talk show will take over the 11:35pm time slot that now belongs to “Nightline”.
This will put Kimmel head-to-head with NBC’s “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno and the “Late Show” on CBS with David Letterman. ABC execs say Kimmel’s show has shown ratings growth and the network wants to capitalize on the potential for greater ad revenue.
Kimmel’s show moves to 11:35pm on January 8. “Nightline” will air an hour later each day, plus have a weekly show during prime time.
