The 2009 “Americana Festival” will take place Fri-Sat, May 1-2, 2009, in Historic Virginia City, NV. Headlining the event will be legendary Americana singer-songwriter, Tim O’Brien. O’Brien received a Grammy in 2005 for “Best Traditional Folk Album” for Fiddler’s Green. O’Brien will appear at Piper’s Opera House on Saturday, May 2, 7pm.
Other events over the two day festival will include a traditional Maypole dance, concert performances by 12 top regional artists (see list below), a contra dance, a community supper on Saturday night and an appearance by internationally renowned Mark Twain impersonator, McAvoy Layne. Events will take place at both the national historical landmark, Piper’s Opera House as well as the brand new Ramada Inn, Virginia City.

Festivities begin Friday, May 1, 5pm with a traditional Maypole Dance, accompanied by live musicians, at the Ramada Inn, 100 E. St. Virginia City. Public is invited to join the dance!
