Reno, Nev. - The future of the UNR Farm and Wolf Pack Meat hangs in the balance as discussion continues.

On Tuesday, February 21st, at the request of City Council, the University will hold a meeting to talk about the farm's future.

The university says they want to rezone the land to make it an industrial park, but some people say that's not a good idea.

The rezoning was not originally approved by City Council after people opposing the re-zoning flooded their meeting, and more than 10,000 people signed a petition online.

Agriculture advocates say the future of Wolf Pack Meats is among their top concerns. They say the facility is invaluable for research and teaching, and that could be lost if the rezoning passes.

There are also concerns about flooding, and further erosion. Especially if the land is used for business development.

At a City Council meeting, commissioners said the rezoning will not affect farm operations.

Rezoning advocates say it's a perfect spot for businesses and employment centers because it's so close to the airport.

The forum will be held at Joe Crowley Student Union at the University of Nevada from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.. Doors open at 5.

Once it's gone, the UNR AG station cannot be replaced. Kiss off the UNR AG Dept.
