RENO, NV - Several residents at The Villas in Sparks have created a "Good Deeds Club", when once a month they either make or donate something to a group of individuals or organization.

This month's good deed is making Valentine's Day cards for veterans.

"Anytime we can do anything for the veteran's I'm ready, and I'm ready to take the help, you bet," says volunteer Isabelle Vernon.

Others would agree.

"This is our way of thanking them for what they've done for us and we don't want them to feel like they've been neglected in what they've done," says volunteer Betty Schulz.

The volunteers spent weeks making 90 cards that were delivered to the veterans Wednesday morning.

The "Good Deeds Club" was started this year, Villa's executive director Evette Lockhart says she enjoys working with the club and watching them give back.

"They've had a blessed life themselves, so now they can give back to the community and really feel like their making a difference," says Lockhart.

This month's good deed hits especially close to home for a few of the volunteers.

"I had three brothers that were in the service, in the war and i know we were so thankful when they came back alive," says Vernon.

The ladies wanted the vets to have a wonderful Valentine's Day.

"From one veterans to the others, I wish them everything and the best," says volunteer Ruth Dehnhardt.

The special delivery makes these volunteers happy.

"It makes me happy I feel I can do something for what they've done for me," says Schulz.

The "Good Deeds Club" is still deciding what next months good deed should be.
