(KOLOTV.com) -- After 13 years of planning, students are now able to use the University of Nevada, Reno's Knowledge Center.
The Mathewson-IGT Knowledge Center, as it is officially & properly known, is 295,000 square feet. It is located next to the Jot Travis Student Union, which opened last year.
The Knowledge Center contains more than a million texts, and replaces the Getchell Library. It is also home to a high-tech classroom, a special collections section, as well as the @One computing center, where students can use advanced software to create professional class projects.
A public open house is scheduled for August 28 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. UNR says the Knowledge Center is "slated to be the intellectual nexus of our region."
