ELKO, Nev. (AP) - Police in Elko say a distraught teenager
committed suicide after accidentally shooting another boy in the
head with a handgun.

Investigators say the 15-year-old boy was visiting with family
from Wisconsin and was at another's boy home across the street when
the shooting happened around 10:30 p.m. Monday.

The youth had taken a 9 mm pistol from the glove box of his
father's vehicle and was either playing with it or showing it off
in a bedroom when it fired, striking a 14-year-old boy in the head,
police said.

Investigators said the parents of the younger boy were home, and
as they rushed into the room, the other teen ran outside and into the street, where he shot himself in the head.

The 15-year-old died at the scene.

The younger boy was flown to a hospital in Salt Lake City, where
he was listed in critical condition Tuesday, police said.

Neither the names of the victims nor the hometown of the
Wisconsin boy were immediately released.
