The Sports Director is responsible for gathering and producing content for air and for use online, providing the direction for the KOLO 8 Sports team and anchoring the sportscasts. In addition to nightly sportscasts, the KOLO 8 Sports team produces Sports Caravan reports during the high school football and basketball seasons.

Storytelling is the priority. It is not enough to cover highlights. The Sports team is expected to find compelling stories in the community that reach beyond the traditional sports audience.

Candidates must be prepared to work nights and weekends. The Sports Director may also be called upon to cover non-sports breaking news or big story situations.

When we talk with you, be prepared to discuss how you plan to use social media to build and extend KOLO 8 Sports in the community.

--Create content (on air, online and social networking).
--Manage content throughout the week and oversee the planning of newscast stories/interviews.
--Work with anchors, producers and managers to be consistent with the KOLO 8 News Now brand.
--Must be able to shoot video and edit. Knowledge of ENPS and Edius are a plus.
--Must be willing to travel as needed for out of town sports stories.
--Must be comfortable in live coverage.

--College degree in journalism, related field, or equivalent job experience.
--Four years sports reporting/MMJ experience preferred.

--Willing to reside within 30 minutes of station.

Salary based on experience.
