RENO, Nev. – Nevada senior Sharae Zheng and Sio I Lei are heading to Columbus, Ohio to represent the Wolf Pack at the 2018 NCAA Championships, which takes place March 14-17. Zheng will compete in the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard, as well as the platform dive, while Lei will partake in the 1-meter springboard.

The 1-meter springboard is scheduled to take place on Thursday, March 15 and will be followed by the 3-meter springboard on Friday, March 16. The platform dive is slated for Saturday, March 17.

At the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships, Zheng won both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard, and placed sixth in the platform as Lei finished fifth in the 1-meter springboard. The two also earned All-Conference honors at this year’s Mountain West Championship in all three diving events, with Zheng winning Diver of the Meet honors.

Already a two-time national champion, Zheng capped off one of the most historic careers in MW history as she won gold in all three diving events to bring her career win total to eight, which is a conference record. Her sweep of the diving events also marked the second consecutive year she has accomplished the feat at the conference meet.

For Lei, the junior finished the MW Championship placing inside the top eight in all three events. She enters the NCAA Championships having placed third in the 1-meter springboard, sixth in the 3-meter springboard and seventh in the platform. This will mark the second year in a row that Lei will be participating at the NCAA Championships after competing in the platform in 2017.

Nevada’s divers are led by Jian Li You, who is looked upon as one of the best diving coaches in the country. This year marks the 22nd season she has been at the helm of Wolf Pack diving as she has established Nevada as one of the premier diving schools in the region.
