SPARKS, Nev. (KOLO) Sparks high school senior Carlos Rodriguez has been named the Tuff Shed Stud of the Week by the Sports Caravan.

"It means a lot to us as players," said Rodriguez. "I'm happy that I got the Stud of the Week."

He scored five touchdowns in the Railroaders' 46-30 win over Dayton on Friday. That included two rushing touchdowns, a kickoff return touchdown, a punt return touchdown and an interception returned for a TD.

"Those kind of games are once in a career; very rare games," said head coach Brad Rose. "To have a kid that scores touchdowns offensively, defensively and special teams. Pretty much every time he touches the ball is something pretty special."

It was also the first win under coach Rose, who took over the program in the off-season.

"It means a lot to coach Rose; his first year playing with us and getting to know each other," added Rodriguez.

Sparks (1-2) has their home opener on Friday night against Elko (2-0) at 7pm.
