Nevada alum Stassi signs with Twins

MINNEAPOLIS (KOLO) The Minnesota Twins have signed Brock Stassi to a minor-league contract.

Stassi made his major league debut with the Phillies last season, batting .167 in 78 games, with two home runs and seven RBI.

He batted .251 in the minors, with four home runs and 23 runs batted in.

Stassi was the Eastern League's (Double-A) MVP in 2015.

He was a two-way player at Nevada, named the WAC Pitcher of the Year as a junior in 2010. He was also named to the All-Conference second team as a utility player. He was a first team selection as a senior, when he batted a team-high .360.

Stassi was drafted by the Phillies in the 33rd round of the 2011 Major League Draft.
