Galena grad Luke Babbitt traded to Miami Heat

ATLANTA (KOLO) The Atlanta Hawks have traded Luke Babbitt to the Miami Heat in exchange for Okaro White.

Babbitt played in Miami last season before signing with the Hawks in the off-season.

He's played in 37 games this season, making nine starts. But he did not play at all in 19 other games.

Babbitt is averaging 6.1 points and 2.2 rebounds in 15.4 minutes per game, shooting 44% from 3-point range.

The Galena high school graduate was the WAC Player of the Year his final season at Nevada. He entered the NBA draft after his sophomore season, and was picked 16th overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves. He was then sent to Portland in a draft-night trade.

Babbitt has averaged 4.9 points per game over his eight-year career.
