RENO, Nev. (KOLO) Damonte Ranch junior quarterback Cade McNamara has been honored as the Tuff Shed Stud of the Week by the Sports Caravan.
"Thank you. I'm honored, and congrats to all of the other guys that you guys were thinking of. They're all absolutely great players and I appreciate it," said McNamara
He passed for 320 yards and five touchdowns in their 61-27 win over fourth-ranked McQueen on Friday night. He also ran in a touchdown, finishing with six TD's.
"Wide receivers had a huge night, especially Tai Allison had a big night," added McNamara. "O-Line had our best performance of the year I feel like."
Allison caught four TD's in the Mustangs' win.
"He just expects great things out of everybody. He expects great things out of himself," said head coach Shawn Dupree. "And he's one of those kids that you don't have to say much to him he demonstrates on both sides with his voice and his body actions."
McNamara has passed for 1,398 yards and 17 touchdowns this season against just four interceptions. He's already committed to play college football at Notre Dame.
"He does a good job of staying positive with it but at the same time really putting his foot down and demanding that everybody works as hard as they can," added Dupree. "And that's anything and everything you'd want as a coach."
McNamara was the Tuff Shed Stud of the Year as a sophomore.
Top-ranked Damonte Ranch (5-0) plays on the road at Shasta (4-0) on Friday night.
