Wolf Pack RB James Butler transferring to Iowa

Reno, Nev. (KOLO) Wolf Pack running back James Butler has announced that he is transferring to Iowa for his senior season.

Nevada head coach Jay Norvell issued this statement on Butler's transfer:

"Over the last week, James Butler has expressed a desire to graduate and transfer to a school closer to home. He has a strong desire to have his mother see him play in his last season of college football. We wish him all the best.”

Butler has already graduated, meaning he'll be eligible to play right away.

He ranks eighth in school history with 3,316 career rushing yards, scoring 30 total touchdowns.

Butler has run for over 1,300 yards in each of the last two seasons. He averaged 5.1 yards per carry as a junior, running for 1,336 and a career-high 12 touchdowns. He also caught 37 passes for 381 yards and three more TD's.
