Winner picked in Circus Circus mural contest

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - Anthony Ortega of Reno took first place in the Circus Circus 24-Hour Mural Marathon that finished Sunday.

Ortega earned a $2,000 prize for his hand-drawn mural of a robot.
Rafael Blanco of Quincy, Calif., took second place for his mural of a boy with a camera and received a $1,000 prize. Marv Riley of Austin, Texas. won third place for a mural of a tiger and got $500.

There were seven muralists, Circus Circus said, and each mural remains on the Virginia Street side of Circus Circus until next year’s competition. They started creating their murals Saturday and finished on Sunday.
