Washoe County's Incline High, Middle and Elementary schools will be closed the rest of the week because of the storm and blizzard conditions at Lake Tahoe, with classes scheduled to resume January 16, 2017. The closure applies to sports and other school activities.
Other Washoe County schools are on a two-hour delay Thursday, as is TMCC.
All schools in the Lake Tahoe Unified School District at South Lake Tahoe will be closed Thursday, January 12, due to the continuing blizzard.
The district says snow removal conditions are ongoing and very difficult due to the amount and consistency of the snow. Roads are too narrow for school buses to navigate safety and too hazardous for students to get to bus stops safely.
Only essential staff is told to report to work: District Office, snow removal and maintenance.
