Driver hits and kills horse

PLEASANT VALLEY, Nev. (KOLO) - A horse was hit and killed just after 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at the intersection of Pagni Lane and Old U.S. 395.

According to Sergeant Glenn Smith with the Nevada Highway Patrol, a car was heading south on Old U.S. 395 when it collided with the horse that was standing in the roadway.

The brand inspector determined the horse was wild. The two people in the car were not injured and speed or alcohol do not appear to be factors.

Sgt. Smith says this time of year, drivers need to pay a little more attention while driving in that area. More animals, like deer and wild horses are starting to migrate, and when it is dark outside it is hard to see them.
