RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - UPDATE - Appointments to give blood at the UBS location on Terminal Way are booked until the middle of the week of October 9.

So many people have shown up to donate blood that United Blood Services has started using two bloodmobiles set up in the parking lot.

The United Blood Services center on Terminal Way in Reno opened early Monday for people who want to donate blood in response to the mass shooting in Las Vegas.

Scott Edward, Marketing Director for United Blood Services, says at this point, there are no plans to open additional blood donation centers there would not be enough staff available to do so. They are encouraging people who want to donate to show up today at the donation center at 1125 Terminal Way, in Reno. Edward is encouraging donors to spread out appointments throughout the week to allow United Blood Services to process and replenish supplies.
