SPARKS, Nev. (KOLO) -- Employees from local businesses grabbed a hammer to help raise money for low-income families.

The 6th annual Truckee Meadows Habitat for Humanity’s Build-a-Thon wrapped up Saturday evening.

Volunteer teams spent the day building playhouses that will be raffled off to the public. This was also a competition because those playhouses were judged by those who attended the family-friendly event in Sparks.

The goal of this build-a-thon is to raise awareness and donations for Habitat for Humanity, which builds homes for low-income families.

Judge's pick for the best playhouse went to Fedex, while the kids' choice went to the Ritz Carlton Lake Tahoe.

The playhouses will be raffled off in two weeks. The tickets are $10 apiece and can be picked up at Habitat for Humanity ReStore location at 530 Greenbrae Drive in Sparks.
