RENO, Nev. (KOLO) - The Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District (TMFPD) invites the public to attend an informational session about volunteer opportunities with TMFPD. The event is Monday, March 20 6PM-9PM.

TMFPD is seeking volunteers to help augment its career firefighters with wildland and structure firefighting, EMS and logistical assistance in the communities of Silver Lake, Lemmon Valley, Pleasant Valley, Palomino Valley, Washoe Valley and other neighboring areas.

The event will be at the TMFPD Administrative Offices at 10001 East 9th Street in Reno, Building D, 2nd floor.

Interviews will be available throughout the evening with Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District Chief Charles Moore as well as current and former volunteers and a retired Truckee Meadows Career captain who heads up new member training.

Truckee Meadows Fire District relies on volunteers as a force multiplier and resources for periods of peak activity. TMFPD hopes to recruit 30-40 volunteers during the 2017 annual recruitment.

Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District says it "is committed to excellence, service, and the protection of life and property in the community. Those attending will have the opportunity to learn about what it takes to serve as a volunteer firefighter, the time commitment and types of services volunteers provide."

"TMFPD’s highly trained members are recognized as regional fire and emergency service leaders and we are committed to protection of the community though effective education, risk reduction and response."
