Most power back on in Reno area; power poles being repaired

5:54 p.m. update:
NV Energy now reports 580 customers without power in Northern Nevada.

5:18 p.m. update:

NV Energy customers remain without power late Sunday afternoon, but the utility is unable to estimate how many due to computer problems.
The number dropped to 1,600 homes and businesses by mid-afternoon on Sunday.

Six distribution poles were blown down Sunday morning in the Cold Springs area by high winds and as of late Sunday afternoon there was no estimated time when those poles would be repaired.

The areas with outages included Stead, Silver Lake and Spanish Springs Valley in Washoe County and Carson City, where trees fell on powerlines.

NV Energy reports 5,360 customers without power in Washoe County, with 4,602 of them in the North Valleys area.

Equipment failure and windstorms are blamed as the causes.

The Washoe County Sheriff's Office reports several power lines are4 down along a frontage road west of U.S. 395 in Cold Springs .

For most of the customers, power is expected to be restored by 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m., but for some, power is not expected to be restored until Sunday night.
